Technology

What makes Freeport Welding different from other fabricators? We are a technology-driven fabricator with a fully integrated system we call 21st Century Fabrication - a complete re-engineering of the fabrication process from inquiry and estimating through production planning, quality control, inspection reporting, scheduling, and cutting.

Computer network and digital fabrication workflow

We operate more than 90 computers on our network, including workstations in the shop, for fast, up-to-date communication between departments.

Drawings, calculations, layouts, and details are generated digitally, and parts are cut directly from those drawings on NC equipment. This digital-first workflow eliminates manual layout and hand cutting, helps hold tighter tolerances, improves fit-up quality, and supports better weld outcomes.

Machinery and equipment capacity

We maintain an extensive catalog of fabrication equipment with plate rolling capacities of 1-1/4 x 10 ft, 3/4 x 12 ft, and 4-1/4 x 10 ft, plus 750-ton plate bending capacity at 3/4 x 14 ft.

Every piece of equipment is logged in our database, physically tagged, and regularly inspected. Through proprietary software, equipment can be located quickly, which supports rapid planning and execution.

Emergency turnaround and in-house process control

Freeport Welding & Fabricating specializes in emergency turnaround work with the ability to execute quickly and efficiently.

Most projects can be completed without relying on outside sources for flame cutting, rolling, or bending. Our critical fabrication and quality processes are flow-charted and tied to documented procedures developed through decades of execution.

Documentation, traceability, and code qualifications

Each process step is documented and stored in our internal database. We retain records for every job and can retrieve historical fabrication and quality information quickly, with records maintained back to 1985.

Digital production data is stored on-premises and backed up daily. We maintain more than 1,500 qualified weld procedures and hold ASME Code Stamps U, R, U2, and NB.

These controls support our core business focus: code-compliant pressure vessel fabrication with repeatable quality and reliable documentation.
